Asia-US Forum on Fog Networking for 5G and IoT 2015
In the past decade, the Cloud has been taken as the most powerful computing environment that empowers simple nodes, such as PDA phones or Internet of Things (IoT) objects, with advanced/improved/strong computation capability in the mobile Internet. But because the Cloud does not collocate with simple nodes, networking technologies with high bandwidth and low latency are under development to shorten the response time for all the applications run on the Cloud for simple nodes. Meanwhile, another important approach that empowers/advances simple nodes is Fog Networks, which has a working definition of “an architecture that uses one or a collaborative multitude of end-user clients or near-user edge devices to carry out a substantial amount of storage, communication and management.” Fog Networks is characterized by its high efficiency and low cost in enabling simple nodes to run powerful applications with short response time.
The forum will be the leading one that focuses on Fog Networks. The main theme of this forum focuses on the trends and current developments in technologies for Fog Networks. Researchers and experts in the fields from top universities and leading businesses are invited to join this one-and-a-half-day event to share and exchange the latest technology advances on Fog Networks.
